A good egg

7 Jul

What a relief. Today went much better than we expected. It turns out our one viable egg was a fighter. We transferred a “perfect” 4-cell embryo this morning. The doctor seemed confident of our chances. Apparently our clinic only has a 25% freeze rate, because they are so discriminate about what they will actually freeze. I wish I had known this yesterday. He said that the only advantage of leaving embryos out for longer is to identify the best one(s). In our case, we had one to choose from and it was a keeper. I sure hope it decides to stick around.

I will post more reflections on our journey so far, but for now I am delighted that we have a fighting chance.
